Rain

The clouds hang heavy, dark and troubled.
Their labor is long as the tiny drops of
Perspiration begin to fall,
Weaving in and out and colliding with
Each other in silent fireworks of
Reflected half-light.

Their torrential fall beats an unknown
rhythm on the drum of aspen trees,
Bark. Leaf. Twig.  Their staccato solo echoes
Upon a troubled pond, making the faintest of
Trickles to flow like blood from a cut.
The drops follow after the rivulet, seeking a
Stream, and in turn, an ocean of peace.
The Pacific.

The Earth nods in time to the simple music,
Gladly accepting the labor of another for what
Gifts it may bring.

In the desert, a lone child dances,
Hands raised to the sky as the sweet
Scent of wet sand fills his nostrils and
The water’s crisp taste pierces his
Soul like a needle, bringing life to a
Dying land and a dying people.

i dont really like the last stanza...i might have fit better in another context...a more cynical (or critical-depending on the sense of humour :P) but in general the metaphors and the images u create are very nice :)
